Gordy and Bear Grover have been missionaries for 40 years. For over half of that time, they took high school students overseas to serve with ReachGlobal missionaries and national partners around the world on summer missions. They have served in Africa, Asia, Latin America and central Europe.

Before moving to Santo Domingo, they served in central Africa mentoring and coaching young leaders of grass-roots Christian organizations. As the leaders of the Santo Domingo City Team, they have the goal of discipleship and leadership development among university students across all of their partner churches in the city.

You and your students will come alongside Gordy and Bear to serve and reach out to the community of college-age students introducing them to Jesus and the church mainly through ESL.

How you'll serve

  • Teaching Conversational English - Many Dominican students want to learn conversational English along with their other studies; some are required to learn it for their degrees. You will participate in conversational English classes taught by university professors. In the classes, you play games and practice conversational English with opportunities to introduce faith and the gospel during those conversations.

We recommend purchasing the AE Bible Reading and Conversation material to practice teaching English as a second language before arriving in Santo Domingo.
